Last year, Zambian striker Patson Daka was close to joining AFC Bournemouth from Leicester City, but his transfer fell through on deadline day. However, the 25-year-old has remained a subject of transfer speculation.
His relationship with his club coach, Enzo Maresca, which seemingly soared for the bulk of 2023 and saw him shelved from the squad, appeared to be improving before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) started.
Daka had only appeared in one of Leicester City’s 19 league games before December 9, 2023, making the bench ten times and missing the squad eight.
However, after Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy were sidelined in December due to illness and injury, respectively, Maresca turned to Daka, who went on to score two back-to-back goals against Plymouth and Millwall, as well as a brace against Rotherham, in six consecutive championship starts before joining the Chipolopolo camp for the AFCON.
On Tuesday, Daka marked his return to Leicester City with an assist and won a penalty in their 3-1 win over Swansea.
Leicester City reject Real Betis offer
With the transfer window closing in England tonight, it is understood that Spanish club Real Betis attempted to sign the Zambian on loan but was turned down.
BolaNews sources have also revealed that Maresca has been told he has to sell a player to generate the funds to bring any new players in; therefore, loaning out players is not an option.
The 2017 CAF African Young Player of the Year Award winner has two years left on his contract with Leicester City.

He has 19 goals and 11 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes.
Meanwhile, multiple reports in Spain claim talks between Leicester City and Real Betis are ongoing.
It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached tonight.
