It took Barbara Banda only three minutes before scoring her first goal for Zambia five months after being away from playing competitive football when the Copper queens defeated Namibia 2-0 in their 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship opener.
Banda first found the back of the net from a well-chipped pass by Avell Chitundu with only three minutes played in the first half to put the copper queens in the lead for the first time in the game.
With 26 minutes played in the second half, Ochumba Oseke Lumbanji cooked a brilliant long pass to Barbara Banda who made no mistake to beat the Namibian goalkeeper and putting the ball behind the net to complete her brace.
It was the first time Banda was featuring for the Copper Queens after five months of not playing competitive football.
She was also named the player of the match despite not finishing the match due to an injury she sustained in the 78th minute of the match.
The copper queens who are now ranking second in group B on goal difference will now play their next match against the group leaders Lesotho on Sunday.
