Zambia’s National Team returned to winning ways on Wednesday afternoon at the 2023 COSAFA Cup, with a 2-1 victory over Group B leaders Comoros.
The first half ended in a goalless stalemate, although the Chipolopolo boys were largely the superior team as they pressed for a goal, but the opponent’s defense held firm.
After the restart of the second half, the defending champions of the COSAFA Cup kept looking for a goal, and in the 52nd minute, Frederick Mulambia scored after combining with Moyela Libamba.
In the 68th minute, Comoros equalized through Djambae due to a defensive error caused by a miscommunication between Samson Mukandawire and goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga.
However, Albert Kangwanda scored an easy tap-in off a Golden Mashata assist in the 75th minute to give the Chipolopolo Boys the victory.
Comoros were eventually reduced to ten men after Yourssoufe was shown a red card after receiving his second yellow for a foul on Kangwanda.

Zambia now sits third in Group B with three points, while Comoros remains first despite the loss, with second-placed Malawi playing Seychelles later today.
To advance to the next round, the Chipolopolo will need to defeat Seychelles in their last group match and hope the result between Malawi and Comoros at least ends in a draw.
