Malawi National Team caretaker Coach Patrick Mabedi has named two Zambian-based players in his final 25-member squad for the 2023 Cosafa Cup.
The regional tournament is scheduled for Durban, South Africa from July 5 to July 16.
The two players in the squad dominated by local players are, Zanaco Football Club striker Chawanangwa Kaonga and Shamuel Academy striker Chifundo Mphasi.
Koanga made his return to the Flames squad during match day 5 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, following his impressive exploits for Zanaco FC in the Zambian Super League. He scored three goals for Bankers after signing for the Lusaka-based side in the January transfer window.
Kaonga played the friendly match against Mozambique that ended in a 1-all draw. He was also in the squad for the AFCON qualifier against Ethiopia as the two sides drew 0-0.
