As 2024 comes to a close, BolaNews looks back on the performances of Zambian stars during their final weekend of club football action.

Copper Bullets winger Songa Chipyoka scored his third goal of the season for Hapoel Petah Tikva, who were eliminated from the Israel State Cup. The 20-year-old’s opener was cancelled out by top-tier side Hapoel Haifa, who went on to win the penalty shootout 5-3.

Patson Daka, who reunited with former RB Salzburg teammate Erling Haaland, entered the game in the 85th minute as Leicester City lost 2-0 to Manchester City.

Mutandwa benched again, Kennedy returns

Fresh from netting a brace for the U20s in the Primavera 1, Kingstone Mutandwa was an unfielded substitute as Cagliari lost 3-0 to Inter in the Serie A.

Zambia’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification hero Kennedy Musonda returned from injury for Young Africans SC as they battered Fountain Gate 5-0. His countryman, Clatous Chama, is still on the sidelines through injury.

Joshua Mutale was unavailable for Simba SC, who edged Singida Black Stars 1-0.

Ghampani Lungu starts, Kelvin Kampamba benched

Making just his second start of the season, Chipolopolo forward Ghampani Lungu played 83 minutes for Supersport United in their stalemate with Stellenbosch. Meanwhile, compatriot Moyela Libamba did not feature in the Lamontville Golden Arrows squad. His side clashed with Polokwane City in the South African topflight.

Kelvin Kampamba was an unused substitute for Libyan champions Al Nasr. The team suffered their first league defeat of the season against Alkhdar.

Frankie Musonda misses weekend’s action

Copper Bullets defensive kingpin Frankie Musonda did not make Ayr United’s on Sunday as they clashed horns with Greenock Morton.
