China-based defender and 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning defender, Stoppilla Sunzu has been recalled to the Zambia National team for the first time in 3-years.
Sunzu last featured for the Chipolopolo in 2019 when Zambia got thumped 5-0 by Algeria in the Africa cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Cangzhou Mighty Lion FC defender who already has 64 official senior Chipolopolo appearances has made the cut in the 24-member squad released by stand-in coach Moses Sichone which also includes enterprising under-20 Cosafa-winning goalkeeper Jeban Tembo who recently graduated to the under-23 National team that qualified to the final round of the Morocco 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Sierra Leone to set up a date with Egypt.
Leicester city star striker Patson Daka leads the attack alongside Rangers FC rapid forward Fashion Sakala and Simba SC red hot attacker Moses Phiri.
Other European-based players called listed in the squad include Serie A’s Lecce winger Lameck Banda, Lubambo Musonda, Emmanuel Banda, Kings Kangwa and Frankie Musonda.
Zambia will be regrouping for an international friendly match against Israel on November 17, 2022 at the Petach Tikva Stadium as they prepare for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that resume in March next year.
