Avram Grant still has a variety of attacking forwards at his disposal despite Leicester City forward Patson Daka’s timid performance in Zambia’s 3-1 victory over Lesotho. The likes of Joseph Phiri, Kennedy Musonda, as well as Lazarus Kombole, will be eager to leave an imprint if given a chance.
Musonda who was at the summit of the top scorers list in the Super League prior to his move to the Tanzanian club Young Africans is no stranger to putting the ball in the back of the net.
He has been brilliant since moving to Tanzania in the January transfer window, scoring two goals and providing three assists in his last five appearances for the club.
Meanwhile, after Zambia’s win over Lesotho, in the match in which he was an unused substitute, the former Power Dynamos striker took to Instagram to celebrate the victory.
He posted: “Passion, character, togetherness, and a powerful fighting spirit. We are Zambia.”
A fan then commented, “Sub player,” with laughing emojis in what looked like a reference to Musonda being a bench warmer.
In response to the comment, the Zambian forward showed his patriotism by jokingly stating, “For Zambia, I can even be a ball boy.”
His burning desire to be available for the national team in any capacity is admirable, and he has received praise from a wide range of fans.
Grant is clocking 50 years of football experience but has yet to settle in as Chipolopolo’s head coach, as evidenced by his skepticism about not using his substitutes on Thursday despite leading comfortably.

Fans will be hoping that when Zambia plays Lesotho tomorrow, the coach will use his bench to give other players a chance to make their first impression.
