Chipolopolo skipper Lubambo Musonda has shared his injury frustrations after recovering from a ruptured inguinal ligament that kept him out of action for four months.

The versatile player has revealed that his road to recovery has been successful but not without frustrations, stating it was hard to cope with the injury.

“It wasn’t easy, of course, but I’ve been recovering well and I’m back on the pitch. I think the most difficult part is the recovery [because] after the injury is healed, you have to recover from all the negative stuff in the head and all the muscle build-up. That’s the hardest part,” he said.

Musonda, who plays for German side 1. FC Magdeburg also shared his experience playing in the German second tier.

“I think the difference [with other leagues I have played in] I would say the intensity, especially in the second division. The intensity of the game and the physicality of the game in the league, I think, go way beyond. More physical, more fast and I think it’s a good league. “[It is a] very good league and I’m happy to be here,” he said.

Musonda hopes to return to the Chipolopolo setup when Zambia plays Russia in an international friendly, having last turned up for Chipolopolo in the 3-2 win over Sierra Leone back in November.

He was speaking when he appeared on ZNBC’s Radio 4 Sports Day on Monday.
