Avram Grant’s decision to include Victor Chabu and Charles Kalumba in the Chipolopolo boys squad was correct, according to Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga.
Grant unveiled a 27-man provisional squad for next month’s back-to-back Group E 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania.
Chabu of the Nchanga Rangers took home the golden gloves in the 2024 ABSA Cup, while Kalumba of the Red Arrows won the cup and the title.
Mulenga, who has been Grant’s first-choice goalkeeper, said he is looking forward to working with the two goalkeepers since the team needs to perform well in the next two games.
“Our national team needs top performances for the coming games,” he told BolaNews in an interview on Wednesday. “It will be an honor to work alongside these guys.”
Mulenga made his competitive international debut against Ivory Coast in the 2023 Afcon Qualifiers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, maintaining a clean sheet.
The Power Dynamos shot-stopper appeared in all three matches for the Chipolopolo boys at the 2023 Afcon competition but did not keep a clean sheet.
Zambia is set to conduct a training camp in Europe before traveling to Morocco to face the Atlas Lions on June 7 and Tanzania four days later.
