Zambian international Kennedy Musonda has officially been announced as the newest signing for Israeli second-tier side Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim Football Club following his exit from Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC.
The 30-year-old forward, who recently parted ways with Yanga after the expiration of his contract, has finalized all necessary paperwork and is set to complete the move to Israel pending medical examinations, the club confirmed on Monday.
Musonda’s move will make him the third member of the current Chipolopolo senior squad to ply his trade in Israel, following the paths of Kings Kangwa and Songa Chipyoka who are already in that country.
Club’s Expectations of Musonda
Hapoel Ramat Gan are reportedly banking on Musonda’s wealth of experience and recent form to strengthen their push for promotion to the Israeli Premier League. The club highlighted his recent exploits both at club and international level.
“The Zambian striker comes to us after several significant seasons in Africa’s top leagues, the last of which was with Young Africans – with whom he participated in the CAF Champions League.” the club said.
“Last season, he scored the winning goal for the Zambian national team against Ivory Coast, a crucial moment that secured the team’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.”
Musonda joined Young Africans from Zambian side Power Dynamos in the mid-season window of the 2022/23 campaign and quickly made an impact. He went on to score 34 goals and provide 13 assists during his time with the Tanzanian champions. His impressive spell saw him collect three Tanzanian Premier League titles, three domestic cup trophies, two Community Shield medals, and a CAF Confederation Cup runners-up medal.
The striker’s winning goal against Ivory Coast in the AFCON qualifiers stands out as a pivotal moment in Zambia’s back to back continental football qualification.
Musonda is expected to arrive in Israel later this week as he begins a new chapter in his career, aiming to light up the Liga Leumit and help propel Hapoel Ramat Gan to top-flight football.
