Kangwanda, 25, did not make the cut for the Chipolopolo squad taking on Chad in back-to-back 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifiers.

Despite his constant heroics at the COSAFA Cup, particularly in the 2022 and 2023 editions, Kangwanda is yet to be capped by Avram Grant, only making the 55-man preliminary squad for the 2023 AfCON.

The Al Hilal-Sudan loanee has hit the ground running in Moldova. So far, he has recorded two assists in his first four league games for Spartanii, meriting a place in Sofascore‘s Moldovan Super Liga Team of the Week on matchday 8.

Lushomo Mweemba records first goal and cleansheet

Zambia’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goalscorer, Lushomo Mweemba, has opened her scoring account for Hakkarigucu Spor in the Turkish women’s topflight.

She broke the deadlock for her side in the 24th minute against Cekmekoy B, helping them to a 2-0 victory on the day.

Mweemba and Martha Tembo, both starting their 5th consecutive league match, recorded their first cleansheet in Turkey.

Meanwhile, in the United States, Barbra Banda‘s Orlando Pride tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing 2-0 to Portland Thorns on Saturday morning. The Copper Queens skipper started on the substitute bench before coming on for the last half-hour.

Peter Chikola notches assist in Spain

Starting for the second league match in a row, Zambian striker Peter Chikola chalked up an assist for Cadiz B in their 1-1 draw with Xerez in the Segunda Federacion.

Marcos Denia gave Cadiz B the lead 74 minutes into the contest from a stunning cross delivered by Chikola from the left wing.

“A difficult one to take but so proud of this team and happy for the assist. Let’s got team,” wrote the Zambian after the match.
