CHIPOLOPOLO head coach Avram Grant says his system of play will determine who will be selected for the World Cup qualifiers and next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Zambia National Team trainer believes the squad is big enough to give him a headache on squad selection.

Speaking after last evening’s game against Uganda, Grant said every player is important but his system will determine who plays.

“I am happy for the national team,” he told FAZ Media. “And I can tell you, I am happy for all of them [the players]. It’s good because we need a big squad.

“I never think about the best eleven; I think we have a very clear system and that’s what is more important. The system is what will [determine who plays ] and in good shape.”

Grant also defended his players, saying it is almost impossible to be flawless for the entire match.

“Football, you cannot be good in 90 minutes; maybe only Manchester City,’ he said. “The problem I will be having is when you [the player/s] are not in a good moment.”

He has also expressed delight in the two friendlies against Egypt and Uganda, stating that they have lived up to his expectations.

“We achieved a lot; this camp has achieved it’s objectives.”

Zambia lost 1-0 to Egypt last week on Thursday before beating Uganda 3-0 last evening.

The two friendlies were used to prepare the team for the World Cup qualifiers set to begin next month against Congo Brazzaville and Niger.

Zambia will host Congo on November 15, 2023, before traveling to Niger two days later.
