Avram Grant has become the first foreign Chipolopolo coach to remain unbeaten in his first five competitive matches of a tenure since Herve Renard in 2012.
Grant has yet to taste defeat in a competitive international since he was appointed as the Zambian men’s national team coach in December of last year.
He has secured four wins and a draw in his five AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualification matches this year.
No foreign Chipolopolo coach has successfully gone unbeaten in their first five competitive matches of tenure since Herve Renard’s second spell in the Zambian dugout.
The Frenchman was without defeat in his first nine competitive outings on his return to the Copper Bullets’ technical bench.
It was during that run that Renard spearheaded the Zambian men’s national team to their maiden African Cup of Nations title in 2012.
Since Renard’s departure, most of the managerial appointments from overseas have struggled to get the ground running on the Copper Bullets’ touchline.
Avram Grant’s record in competitive games so far:
Games: 5
Won: 4
Draw: 1
Lost: 0
Goals scored: 13
Goals conceded: 4
The former Chelsea FC manager’s prowess in competitive matches will keep the Chipolopolo hopefuls believing that the Copper Bullets could defy all odds in Ivory Coast next year.
Zambian fans will be expecting to see Chipolopolo claim another Africa Cup of Nations title and qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
