Eastern Province football has received a significant boost with Zambian football star Fashion Sakala announcing a K1.6 million budget for the Fashion Sakala Provincial Tournament.

The tournament budget is broken down as follows: K700,000 for the men’s tournament, K400,000 for the women’s tournament, and K500,000 for rural area events.

Sakala emphasised the importance of strengthening rural areas, providing a platform for young footballers in Eastern Province to demonstrate their abilities and seek professional careers.

“I encourage every club and supporter in Eastern Province to join us as we continue our mission of changing lives through football. Let’s keep the spirit alive and work together to groom the next generation of football stars,” said Sakala.

This isn’t the first time Sakala has invested in grassroots football in his home village. Last year, he sponsored a men’s and women’s football tournament worth $38,516 (K1 million), began constructing a secondary school, donated over 120 wheelchairs to those in need, and provided over 1,000 bags of mealie meal to families affected by drought in Zambia.

Through his continued philanthropic efforts and dedication to grassroots football, Sakala is not just supporting young athletes but also transforming lives in his home province.
