Victor Chabu, the Nchanga Rangers goalkeeper, has acknowledged strong competition in the goalkeeping department ahead of a high profile international friendly against World Champions, Argentina.
Chabu faces competition from Willard Mwanza of Power Dynamos, Mangani Banda of Kabwe Warriors.
This season, he has kept 13 clean sheets, helping his team maintain a top-three slot in the league standings.
Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Chabu welcomed the challenge ahead.
“They have called seasoned goalkeepers, and the competition at the goalkeeping department will be high, and it will help us to do well in the competition because everyone will work hard to deliver. We just need to support each other. We are all preparing to go and play and not sit on the bench,” he said.
“At the beginning of the season, I set some targets, and some of them were to play for the national team and get the golden gloves either for the league or the ABSA Cup. I am pushing and working hard; that’s why my performance this season is good,” Chabu noted.
2012 African champions, Zambia will face Argentina on March 31 in Buenos Aires at the iconic La Bombonera Stadium.
