Zambian striker Fashion Sakala was substituted in the 12th minute of a Kings Cup round of 16 match between Al Fayha and Al Arabi on Tuesday night due to a nasty head injury. His side won 1-0 thanks to Uruguayan striker Renzo Patron, who scored in the 42nd minute.
Sakala collided with Saudi Arabian keeper Basil Al Bahrani and sustained head injuries, prompting his club to immediately transport him to the hospital in an ambulance.
The 27-year-old striker, who has been excluded from the national team by Avram Grant over a feud between the two after accusing the Israeli gaffer of forcing players to sign with his agent Nir Karin, confirmed his health this morning in a 28-second video posted on Al Fayha social media platforms.
He confirmed that he had received 18 stitches for his cut.
“This is fash [fashion]. I’m doing good. Of course, I have 18 stitches, but I’m good. I’m doing fine and I’m very happy. The officials came, of course, to support me here in the hospital. I’m doing very fine and I’m back. Of course, obviously tomorrow I’ll get better treatment again,” Sakala said.
His Chipolopolo teammate Patson Daka also took to his Instagram account to wish him well. “Get well soon, bro Fashion Sakala,” he posted.
Sakala has so far this season scored three goals in ten games and one assist across all competitions.
