The Zambia National team is set to play an international friendly match against Israel tonight at the Petach Tikva Stadium in Jerusalem.
Chipolopolo stand-in coach Moses Sichone said the team is ready for the match and hopes to record a win.
”We are looking forward to winning and ending the year 2022 on a good note.” said the coach who has not won any of his last two matches with the National team since he took over from Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic who resigned over alleged non-payment of salary arrears.
Sichone also said he trusts the players available for tonight’s match to deliver in the absence of some of the key players that have been ruled out due to injuries.
“It’s unfortunate Fashion and Frankie are injured, over Sunzu it’s unfortunate you know the situation with the Covid, I am sure we were looking forward to having him here but the situation that side is not allowing,” he said. “I trust the players who are here will be able to deliver and fill in those positions.”
The former Chipolopolo defender has also urged the players to play for Enock Mwepu who was forced to retire from football due to a hereditary heart condition.
“The situation for Mwepu is so sad and I have emphasized to the boys to think about him because he is our captain and the most important player in the team,” he said. “So I think if they can carry out this message to him by winning this game.”
