As the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) draws near, Morocco has shown clear intent to their Group A rivals — including Zambia — with a string of convincing pre-tournament wins.
The African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicks off across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda on August 2.
The Atlas Lions edged Burkina Faso 2-1 in Kenitra on Saturday, following up their emphatic 6-0 thrashing of Chad last month.

Under head coach Tarik Sektioui, who has selected a team of young players born in 2000 or later, seems to be picking up at the right time.
Saturday’s friendly saw Raja Casablanca’s Bouchaïb Arrasi and Younes El Kaabi of Racing Casablanca strike in quick succession in the second half to secure the win. Though Burkina Faso pulled one back late in the match through Papus Naser Ouattara, Morocco held firm to claim their second straight victory.
Zambia, who are also in Group A alongside hosts Kenya, DR Congo, and Angola, finished third in the inaugural CHAN tournament back in 2009 but will be aiming to rediscover their best form and make a strong impression in this year’s edition.
The Zambian technical bench is expected to keep a close eye on Morocco, who are set to play Burkina Faso once more on Thursday, July 24, in their final warm-up match before flying to East Africa.
Zambia has kickstarted their preparations as they look to advance from one of the most competitive groups in the tournament.
