A challenge to win the African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy on home soil has been issued to the Kenya Men’s National team by President William Ruto.
The competition will take place from August 2 to July 30, 2025, and Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are co-hosting it.
As co-hosts alongside Tanzania and Uganda, the East African giants will be playing in the event for the first time.
Nonetheless, the Head of State challenged the national team to win the trophy domestically when he visited them at their training facility at the Moi Sports Centre.
“We will be making history for Kenya. When I made the decision to have Kenya bid for both CHAN and Afcon, I believed we had the capacity and the ability, ” Ruto told Cafonline.
President Ruto further said, “You are going to represent more than 50 million Kenyans and that is the weight of responsibility on your shoulders.
“Know the whole country is behind you. Let it be historic-If we are hosting it for the first time, then we must win,” noted the President.
The Harambe stars will face DR Congo in their opening match of the tournament on 3rd August 2025.
