Zambia national team defender Kabaso Chongo says the team’s target at next month’s 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) is to win the title.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from 1-28 February 2025, with draws set for January 15th in Nairobi, Kenya.
Wedson Nyirenda, who will coach the team at the tournament, named a 30-member squad which included both experienced and new players plying their trade locally.
Chongo said the team was focused on training as they aim to go far in the competition.
“The morale is high, and everyone looks sharp,” he said. “The target we have been given of winning CHAN, we need to work as a team. We can’t win the tournament without hard work and coordination.”
The Kabwe Warriors central defender has called for seriousness in their approach when the tournament kicks off.
“We need to take it seriously and work as a team. I think everyone is ready to go and fight for the title. This is the first tournament of the year,” Chongo said.
