Zimbabwean side Dynamos Football Club has revealed that they are targeting getting beyond the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup and getting more than the US$50,000 on offer at this stage.
The Glamour Boys have remained in Botswana following Sunday’s 1-0 win over ZESCO United at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana.
All clubs in the first preliminary round will get a record US$50, 000, while US$400, 000 is on offer for qualifying for the group stages of the competition.
A club representative says the main target is to get over ZESCO United this weekend so that they can get to the group stages, stating that all the players have received their allowances and are motivated for the upcoming battle.
“The 20-man squad remains in camp, preparing for the fight in Ndola. Generally, the club has kept the welfare of the players well in mind. They are all happy, and all is going well. They have gotten their allowances, but the club will not disclose the figures,” the representative told Zimpapers.
“Going into the next game we believe all our technical team and players are in good state of mind and well-motivated to deliver.”
With their best run in the CAF interclub competitions being a semifinal appearance in the 2008 CAF Champions League, the Glamour Boys are determined to replicate their exploits in the second-tier African competition.
“We are targeting the big prize. There is a total of US$2 million for the winners and US$400,000 for the mini-league. This is what we are eyeing as a club,” he said.
