Zambia’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Zesco United Coach, Numba Mumamba has said his side will aim at performing better than they did last season.

The Zambian envoys in the inter-club competition will face South African Premiership side, Royal AM who will be making their debut appearance in Africa in the second round of the competition.

The Zesco United coach however says, he aims to do better than they performed last season when they suffered an embarrassing first-round exit from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Eswatini’s Royal Leopards.

” For us, we are now happy that we know the team that we will play, and we aim to perform better than we did last season, ” He said

He added that knowing their opponents at this stage will help them plan and prepare adequately before the two sides battle it out.

“It’s time to get down to work and start preparing our team for the game,” he told Bola News.

Zesco United were put on a bye from the preliminary round of qualifiers for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages and will only join the competition in the second round where they will face Royal AM who eliminated Eswatini side Mbabane Highlanders after a 2-0 aggregate scoreline.

Zesco United will travel to South Africa on the weekend of 8-9 October 2022 for the first leg match before hosting the return match on the weekend of 14 to 16 October 2022.
