Zambian Super League side, Zesco Unitef FC has announced they have parted ways with coach Mumamba Numba.

The nine times Champions’ Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Charles Kalala has confirmed in a statement.

“ZESCO United Football Club management would like to thank Mumamba Numba for his services in the last two seasons which resulted into the team winning one league title and qualifying for the 2021/22 CAF Champions League and the 2022/23 CAF Confederations competitions respectively.”

The club had also disclosed in the statement that they will soon announce the appointment of new coach.

“The club will immediately begin the recruitment process for a new full-time head coach. In the interim, ZESCO United 3rd assistant coach, Alfred Lupiya will act as head coach,” read the statement.

Numba joined the 2017 Caf champions League semifinalists in 2020 on a 3-year contract.

He won the Ndola side their ninth league title in his first season at the club but has failed to qualify the electricity men to group stage of continental competitions on two consecutive occasions.

Zesco on Friday got eliminated from the CAF confederation cup by South African side Royal AM after a 1-1 draw to bow out of the competition away goals rule following a 0-0 draw in the first leg match.
