Zesco United coach Matthew Ndhlovu has urged his players to capitalize on their home advantage, make the most of every opportunity, and remain tactically disciplined to avoid conceding.

Zesco United will host Al Masry in the CAF TotalEnergies Confederation Cup group stage fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Friday.

The Ndola side are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Zamalek in their group opener and will be eager to turn the tables in front of their home supporters.

Al Masry, meanwhile, recorded a 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs and will be aiming to maintain their strong start away from home.

“We had an insight of information and research about how Al Masry are playing, and with our planning, I think we have done our tactical and technical preparation. I think we are ready for them,” Ndhlovu said.

ZESCO to Utilize Home Advantage

He added that his team must make full use of their home-ground advantage in the competition and stressed the need for defensive discipline.

“It’s about points, and each and every game we will be playing is very vital for us—more especially when we are playing at home, we need to make use of the home advantage and be free to perform to the fullest,” he said.

“Much as we would want to win this game at home, we need to be cautious also that we don’t concede because this is a situation where every point counts for us; So especially playing at home, we don’t have to be taken away with the game. We need to be tactically disciplined in attack as well as in defense.”

The nine-time Zambian Super League champions will now look to deliver a strong performance against a formidable opponent in front of their home fans, and Ndhlovu concluded that they can turn the tables after being asked about his appointment to take charge of the team ahead of Emmanuel Siwale.

“With the way we are moving, we are capable of turning tables, more especially now that we are united together and see where we need to work on,” he said.
