Zambian Highlanders Football Club head coach Kelvin Kaindu has cautioned ZESCO United against under-rating Dynamos FC in their upcoming first preliminary CAF Confederation Cup ties later this month.

Zesco United were drawn against The Glamour Boys, with the first leg set to be played in Gaborone, Botswana.

Kaindu’s side recently completed a double over rival Dynamos for the first time in a long time.

Speaking in an interview with BolaNews, Kaindu states that Dynamos is not a pushover, despite their inconsistency in form adding that they will be a tough side to break down because they are active in league matches while George Lwandamina’s side is in the off-season.

“Dynamos has a good history in CAF games but is currently struggling with form on and off,” Kaindu told BolaNews. “Their advantage is that the league is on, unlike Zesco United, who are in pre-season.”

Dynamos’ current form

Dynamos suffered another setback in their last match in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League as they recorded a 1-1 draw against Bulawayo Chiefs.  They dropped points for the third successive game.

The Glamour Boys surged ahead as early as in the 2nd minute through Issa Sadiki, who has been registered for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The result sees Dynamos slumping to seventh place.

Meanwhile, Kaindu’s side has revived their chances of clinching the league title with a 2-1 win over Chegutu Pirates.

They scored through qobile Ndlovu, who scored his debut goal for the club and Archford Faira, but conceded late in the game.

Kelvin remains optimistic about winning the league, as they trail league leaders Simba Bhora by seven points.

“Yes, there’s still a lot of games to play for points,” he stated.
