Power Dynamos midfielder Musonda Kapembwa says his team’s Champions League preliminary round first-leg clash against ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast is going to be a good test for the Zambian champions.
Additionally, Power will not have Frederick Mulambia, a key midfield player, in the ASEC match because of an injury.
In an interview on Friday, Kapembwa said the team is motivated ahead of the match.
“This is a game that is self-motivating with the players. This is Africa’s top football, so you know everyone wants to play this game, so on our own, individually, we are prepared mentally and physically.
“We are looking forward to it; it is going to be a good game and a very good test of where we are coming from and where we want to go as a team,” Kapembwa said.
Meanwhile, Power coach Oswald Mutapa confirmed that Power Dynamos will be without Mulambia.
Mutapa said his team has what it takes to deliver a result.
“We have character and personality that will be able to push us to the last minute,” Mutapa said. “We have had good preparation and good friendlies, so it is enough.”
Meanwhile, ASEC coach Julien Chevalier said his team is ready for the match.
“We have a good experience in this competition, but we know that each year we need to begin at zero and make history. Everything depends on what we do on the pitch tomorrow (Saturday) and the second leg.”
