Following their 3–0 defeat to Pyramids FC last weekend in the CAF Champions League, RS Berkane held a crisis meeting to assess their performance ahead of Saturday’s clash with Power Dynamos FC in Ndola.
Berkane began their campaign with a resounding 3–0 win over Power Dynamos, followed by a 2–1 victory against Rivers United and a 0–0 draw with Pyramids.
Their 3–0 defeat last weekend came as a major blow for the Moroccan side, who now need to avoid defeat against the Zambian champions to keep their hopes of advancing alive.
The club announced that its president, Abdul Hakim Bin Abdullah, “held a meeting with the coach and players of the first team, to assess the performance of the group after making 6 rounds of the professional championship draw, overcoming the African Champions League competitions, and stopping the defeat recorded in the last match.”
“This meeting was intended to reflect on several points regarding the team’s future this season and to remind each individual’s responsibility with the goals set and pending.”
Berkane suspends player
The club also revealed that its player, Mohamed Al-Marabit, has been suspended for disciplinary reasons.
“It should be noted that the management of the team decided to isolate the player, Mohamed Al-Marabit, from the group to the extent that he is on the disciplinary board because of repeated disciplinary violations.
“The club also renews its thanks to its fans for their continuous support, reaffirming that the next phase requires the combined efforts of everyone to achieve the expected positive results.”
With two matches remaining, Berkane are second in the group with seven points, while their next opponent, Power Dynamos, are third with four points following their 1-0 win over Rivers United. The
Egyptian side Pyramids top the group with 10 points, while Rivers United remain at the bottom with just one point.
