FORMER Chipolopolo coach Patrice Beaumelle says he is open to the idea of playing the Zambian Super League Champions Red Arrows in pre-season to prepare for the Champions League.
Beaumelle is coach at Algerian side MC Algers, whom he recently guided to the league title with four games to spare.
The Frenchman, who has a fond connection to Zambia, is already thinking about next season and says it wouldn’t be a bad idea to face the Airmen in a friendly match.
Beaumelle has said he keenly follows the Zambia Super League and he is an admirer of the football that has been displayed in the top flight.
“I am following the Zambian league and of course, why not. We can invite Arrows or ZESCO [United] for a pre-season game. Why not,” Beaumelle said.
Arrows clinched the title last week to earn the right to represent Zambia in the Champions League, while Zesco are in the running for a second-place finish so that they can play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Beaumelle expressed gratitude for guiding Alger to their first league title in 14 years.
“I am so happy and glad that I won the league, the expectation was big. In 14 years they did not win the league so this season has been so amazing for me,” Beaumelle said.
