Zambian envoys at the second edition of the CAF Womens Champions League, Green Buffaloes FC kicked off their campaign with a massive 4-0 win over Liberian side Determine Girls FC to top group A.
Buffaloes opened the score lines through a Maweta Chilenga strike, 8 minutes into the match before Ireen Lungu set up Natasha Nanyangwe and Hellen Chanda within a minute to score the second and third goals of the match in the 30th and 31st minutes respectively.
Lungu came close to registering her name on the scoresheet but her effort was ruled as an own goal following a deflection on Determine FC player Jackie Touah in the 58th minute which landed behind the back of the net to increase the Zambia champions’ lead and end the match at 4-0.
Lungu’s assists in the 30th and 31st minute meant she became the first player since the establishment of the CAF Womens Champions League to provide two assists within a minute.
The Copper Queens midfielder was also named the Woman of the Match.
Buffaloes’ will play their second match in group against Moroccan side ASFAR on 2 November at 21h00.
