Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Magogo Moses Hassim has challenged Vipers SC to put up a strong fight against Zambia’s champions, Power Dynamos, in the CAF Champions League.
Vipers will host Power Dynamos in the first leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League on Sunday before traveling to Ndola for the second leg at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Friday next week.
Speaking to FUFA media, Hassim urged Vipers players to put their national team assignments behind them and focus on the Power Dynamos game.
“Players from Vipers, let’s go back to the club. There is an international game, and I want you to appear like national team players who are coming from national duty. There are situations where we have seen players come from national duty and they are benched,” he said.
“So we have a game which can take the club to the group stages of the Champions League, which propels us to get more matches and more competitions for the rest of the players.”
“Let’s go back and put up a fight against the Zambians, and I am very sure it is possible we can go to the group stages. They are men, we are men; they are eleven, we are eleven — why not? I like that attitude. If we go into the match with that attitude, then we will definitely do it,” he added.
The winner over the two legs will qualify for the group stage of the competition.
