Kaindu is one of Zambia’s most qualified coaches, but he struggled when he was given the opportunity to manage in the local league.

After a long spell managing various clubs in Zimbabwe, Kaindu was appointed as Power Dynamos coach in 2018. But he lost his job a year later at the Kitwe side.

He later tried his luck at Buildcon, Nkana, and Zanaco, but with no success.

The former Zanaco midfielder has since returned to Zimbabwe to restart his career with the Highlanders, a team he managed between 2012 and 2014.

“Highlanders Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Kelvin Kaindu as the new head coach for the club’s first team,” a club statement read in part.

Kaindu will need to help the team improve from last season’s run. They finished fifth on the log with 55 points, 11 behind champions Ngezi Platinum.

The club is optimistic about their prospects after Kaindu.

“The entire management at the club would like to extend a warm welcome to Kaindu,” the statement read. “We wish him all the best as he opens yet another chapter with Highlanders Football Club.”

Kaindu has replaced Baltemar Brito, who is now the head coach of the Zimbabwe National Team.
