Kelvin Kaindu, coach of Highlanders Football Club in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL), expressed disappointment after his team’s 1-1 draw with league newcomers Bitika Minerals on Sunday at Barbourfieds Stadium.

Bosso is now eight points behind league leaders FC Platinum after recording their eighth draw of the season.

Kaindu’s team last won a match on April 28th, a 2-0 home victory over CAPS United.

In response to Sunday’s draw, Kaindu stated that the players became complacent after taking the lead.

He adds that this enabled their opponents to regroup and respond in the second half.

“It’s two points that we have dropped,” Kaindu said. “I think we got a bit comfortable when we got an early goal, which was probably a disadvantage for us; we didn’t start the second half very well. Our opponents first and only chance was when our goalkeeper made three saves in two minutes. We controlled the game, but we got comfortable after the goal.”

The gaffer has hinted at reinforcements when the mid-season transfer window opens in the next two weeks.

Kaindu said the reinforcements will be made in the final third of the team.

“We still have one or two slots where we may add a bit of depth, especially upfront. We are hoping that when the window opens, we may have one or two strikers that may come and help us,” he concluded.

The Highlanders’ next match will be against Hwange on Sunday.
