The head coach of Nigeria, Jose Peseiro, is not happy with his team’s 1-1 tie with Lesotho in the FIFA World Cup qualifying match for 2026.
The Super Eagles came from behind to rescue a point as a determined Lesotho side scored first at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Reacting to the result, Peseiro stated that the Super Eagles who commanded the most possession, should have won the match, attributing the result against the Likuena of Lesotho to ‘bad luck’.
Nigeria missed many scoring opportunities in the first half with Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman’s efforts yielding nothing in the opening 45 minutes.
Peseiro said that Lesotho took advantage of one of his team’s two opportunities, acknowledged his team’s superiority, and lamented the wasted opportunities.
“We had 76% of the ball possession against 24% and we had many chances to score. It was bad luck,” Peseiro said.
