Last week, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announced the appointment of Zimbabwean coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who currently coaches FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in Malawi.
FAM appointed Pasuwa to lead the Malawi National Men’s Football Team, the Flames, together with Peter Mponda, who is coaching the Silver Strikers on an interim basis.
Despite FAM’s announcement, it appears that the Malawi association did not consult Bullets or Silver before making the announcement.
Silver’s chief executive officer, Patrick Chimimba, said he heard through the media that they have appointed their coach. “Next, I saw on the FAM Facebook page that they have appointed our coach,” he said.
Chimimba said they will wait until FAM approaches them and they will give a direction after that.
At Bullets, our source said coach Pasuwa was not even approached before making the announcement.
“Not even Bullets were consulted; Bullets heard the matter through the media. However, I can confirm to you that Bullets is not happy with the decision made by FAM to appoint Pasuwa without going through them,” he said.
Bullets chief executive officer Albert Chigoga asked for more time. “We are handling the same matter; we will let you know our stand soon,” he said.
FAM had appointed the two to take charge of the remaining AFCON games, replacing Patrick Mabedi.
