Kalisto Pasuwa’s appointment as Flames coach has been confirmed by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee.
This comes after a meeting that was held in Malawi’s northern region of Mzuzu yesterday.
Last week FAM’s technical subcommittee had recommended Pasuwa’s name. The recommendation had to wait for FAM’s executive committee for approval, which happened yesterday evening.
The source said: “We had looked into the matter, a majority agreed to allow Pasuwa take charge of our national team. Yes, we approved his name“
This will enable FAM to appoint Pasuwa as coach, following which a statement will be released.
Following his performance in November when he was named temporary coach, Pasuwa was the front-runner to succeed Mabedi.
He was in-charge when Flames drew 0-0 away to Burundi and a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso 3-0 both games in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
