Chipolopolo boys Tanzanian based striker Kennedy Musonda has sent a word to Young African (Yanga) Sports Club supporters following a back-to-back defeat in the NBC Premier League.
The defending champions have lost two home league matches to Azam and Tabora United—1-0 and 1-3, respectively.
After the latest defeat to Tabora United, Yanga SC, having played 10 matches, currently sits five points behind log leaders Singinda Black Stars FC.
As a player who has been called up for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifiers, Musonda used social media to express regret for the lackluster display by himself and his teammates.
Recognizing the fervent support from Yanga SC’s dedicated fans, the former Power Dynamos talisman emphasized the need for the team to deliver consistent performances.
“One thing I know is that our fans are passionate and love football, but now more than ever, we deserve the criticism in whatever form they come in because we know that we are capable of better, but we haven’t shown it in the last 2 games,” he said.
Musonda has emphasized the critical need for unity within the squad to bounce back from the disappointing results once the league resumes following the international break.
Despite facing criticism, Musonda emphasized self-criticism and unity within the team, highlighting the ongoing journey to return to top form: “We need is to be together now more than ever and get back to our best, its not over.”
Yanga SC’s next fixture will be on 21 November against log leaders Singida Black Stars.
