Lovemore Fazili, who led the Scorchers to their first-ever Women’s Cosafa championship last year, is not under contract.

It is uncertain if the new Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive will extend his contract with the Scorchers.

Former FAM president Walter Nyamilandu in April last year made a recommendation to extend Fazili contract up to December.

Last November, Fazili and the new FAM were in talks about extending his contract, but nothing came of those reports.

Fazili does not know if his contract will be extended either.

“I am waiting to hear from FAM after my contract expires on December 31. I cannot say much, I am also waiting to see the way forward,” he said.

The technical committee was informed of Fazili’s contract expiration and recommendations were made, according to FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda.

“We are waiting to hear from them, otherwise we are aware of his contract expiry,” he said.

Fazili was tasked to lead the team during the Cosafa championship and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations [WAFCON] following his contract renewal last year.

Fazili won the Cosafa, but the scorchers did not participate in Women’s Africa Cup of Nations [WAFCON] qualifying matches due to financial problems.
