Giants Dynamos were crowned Chibuku Super Cup champions after edging Ngezi Platinum 2-0 yesterday at Baobab.
Second-half goals from Elton Chikona and Emmanuel Paga secured the victory for Dembare.
Going into this game, Ngezi was looking to complete a double after clinching the league title.
Since the rebranding of the Chibuku Super Cup in 2014, Dynamos haven’t won the prestigious cup until yesterday.
Before the final, Dynamos edged Simba Bhora, FC Platinum, and CAPS United to book themselves a ticket to the finals.
Ngezi, on the other end, dispatched Triangle, Herentals, and Black Rhinos to book a date with Dynamos.
This season alone, the teams had met twice before in the league, with Ngezi winning their home encounter before losing in the second leg.
Speaking after the game, teenage forward Elton Chikona expressed his joy.
“I am grateful to be part of the team that has been crowned cup champions.
“Today’s game was a bit tough. Both teams were in need of it and it was history in the making.
“Ngezi were crowned league champions and they wanted to make sure they got a double and they would gave it at all.
“So I am delighted to have scored the opening goal that saw us breaking the dreadlock.
“I would want to thank everyone who has helped me through this journey: my coaches, teammates, and my parents, who have always been there.
