FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have parted ways with their head coach, Peter Mponda, on mutual agreement hours after they lost the league title to bitter rivals, Mighty Wanderers.
Following Big Bullets draw against Mighty Tigers on Saturday, Wanderers won the league after 6 nil win over Moyale Barracks.
Bullets did not explain the reasons for the decision to release Mponda, “FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has decided to part ways with head coach Peter Mponda with immediate effect” read the statement.
Gilbert Chirwa will take charge of the team as interim head coach until the end of the current season.
In 29 league matches, Mponda won 20 times, three draws and lost six times, leaving the team in second position with 63 points.
Appointed in 2025, he guided Bullets to defend the Airtel Top 8 cup, beating his former club Silver Strikers on penalties.
In his career as a coach, Mponda, a former Bullets player and Malawi national team captain, has two trophies: a league and an Airtel Top 8 cup.
