Although they lost to Civil Service United, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets advanced on the next round of the Airtel Top8 championship on aggregate.

In the opening minute of the Saturday game at Kamuzu Banda Stadium, Maxwell Phodo headed home a well-executed corner from left back Eric Kaonga to put Bullets ahead.

However, a penalty kick by Llyod Aaron after Collins Okumu had fouled a Civil striker brought the score equal at ten minutes.

But it was the visitors who dominated play creating numerous scoring opportunities but failed to utilize those chances.

They struck gold in the 55th minute when Chifundo Ngapemba skillfully connected with an Innocent Tanganyika cross on the right side into the penalty area to put Civil ahead.

Bullets progressed into semifinals on aggregate as it ended 3-2 after the second leg. First leg ended 2-0 away in Lilongwe two weeks ago.

“My boys need a break”- Pasuwa

Head coach Kallisto Pasuwa said in response to the Bullets’ appalling performance that his team’s struggles simply serve to highlight their weariness and need for a break.

“I have said this almost every day that my boys are tired, they need to recover but still want to see the best out of them.

Civil’s coach Abbas Makawa said his side created a lot of chances but failed to find a winning goal.

“Our problem was to concede an early goal which affected our game plan. We regrouped and we were ahead in every department, but we failed to score a winning goal for us to progress into semifinals,” he said.
