The qualification phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) has officially come to an end, with 24 teams booking their ticket to the continental showpiece in Morocco.

For the first time in history, Southern Africa will be the most represented sub-confederation at the biennial spectacle with seven nations.

A total of 329 goals were scored at this edition of the qualifiers, with Morocco tallying a mind-blowing 26 goals in just six matches.

BolaNews presents the list of players with the most goals in the just-ended 2025 AfCON preliminaries.

5. Mahmoud Trézéguet (Egypt): 4 goals

Trézéguet outshone talisman Mohamed Salah in the AfCON qualifiers, scoring the most goals for Egypt in their unbeaten campaign. The former Aston Villa FC striker registered four goals and an assist in five matches.

4. Amine Gouiri (Algeria): 4 goals

Born in Bourgoin-Jallieu, France, Gouri represented the French national team at the youth level. In 2017, he made international headlines and garnered interest from Europe’s heavyweights for his performances at the U17 UEFA Euro, where he scored eight times in four matches.

However, in 2023, the ex-Olympique Lyon forward decided to switch his international allegiance to Algeria. He has since had an impressive start to life with the Desert Foxes, scoring four goals and setting up one in five 2025 AfCON qualification matches.

3. Kennedy Musonda (Zambia): 4 goals

When Zambia needed a hero to step up to the plate and fill the boots of goalscoring machine Patson Daka, Kennedy Musonda answered the call.

He broke his scoring duck for the Chipolopolo with a towering header in a hard-fought 3-2 win against Sierra Leone back in September. Since then it’s been raining goals for Musonda. The Young Africans striker tallied four goals and an assist in six matches in this edition of the qualifiers.

2. Serhou Guirassy (Guinea): 6 goals

Despite scoring six goals in four matches during the preliminaries, Guirassy will not be participating in the 2025 AfCON. Guinea missed out on the qualification to Tanzania by a single point.

The Dortmund FC striker will now be eyeing the 2024 CAF Player of the Year accolade, which will be given out at the official awards ceremony scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.

1. Brahim Díaz (Morocco): 7 goals

No player scored more goals in the 2025 AfCON qualification stage than Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz. The playmaker was the linchpin of a devastating Atlas Lions side that scored 26 goals in only six matches.

He was the hat-trick hero in Morocco’s 7-0 obliteration of Lesotho on the final matchday of the 2025 qualification. With seven goals from only four appearances, Díaz helped the 2025 AfCON hosts finish their group with a perfect record of six victories.
