Following a poor run in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Lesotho Football Association has announced a mutual separation with National Team coach Veselin Jelusic.
This is with immediate effect and ends Jelusic’s sixteen months reign with the Lukuena.
The former City of Lusaka coach was appointed in February 2022 and helped Lesotho reach the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Seychelles in the preliminary rounds.
His last match in charge of the Likuena was Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Comoros. The other two previous results were defeats to Eswatini and Togo in recent friendly matches.
In the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, Lesotho are bottom of Group H with only a point from five matches.
They started with a 2-nil defeat to Comoros before holding a star-studded Ivory Coast 0-0 on match day two.
However, the Crocodiles’ chances of making a debut appearance at the Africa Cup were ended by back-to-back defeats against the Chipolopolo Boys.

Lesotho lost 3-1 in Ndola before suffering a 0-2 home defeat four days later.
They will now be hoping to make amends with a good performance at the 2023 COSAFA Cup. The regional tournament is slated for next month in South Africa.
Jelusic had an impressive start with Lesotho at the 2022 COSAFA Cup, beating both Malawi and Mauritius.
The team, however, faltered in their last game, where they needed a point against Eswatini to win their group.
