After a hard-fought 1-1 draw in his Group F opening game with Zambia against the Democratic Republic of Congo, Avram Grant has declared his side’s clash with Tanzania tomorrow a must-win.
The Chipolopolo Boys earned a point against a very aggressive DR Congo, which had 25 shots on goal to Zambia’s one.
They performed well to defend and went away with a vital point in that game, but the Israeli coach has a lot of work to do in what appears to be an easy encounter in the group before meeting favourites Morocco.
“I don’t think about losing,” Grant told a pre-match press conference today at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro. “I know it’s part of the game but we must be positive. In every game that comes, we must be positive. We did it against Congo and we will do it against Morocco. We just want to be positive and we will do everything to win the game.
Grant added that he is making sure his side improves in all the departments in each game.
“We want to qualify for the next round. We are always looking to improve in all aspects, be it defense or offense. I don’t think about losing before the game. We know it’s a tough game but we think positively about each game.”
When asked about his opponents tomorrow, the former Ghana and Chelsea FC manager responded: “To be honest I do not know; I know they want to play on the pitch. I was impressed with them; they are hard to beat; I think except for the 3-0 against Morocco, they were good.”
