Jacinto Dala believes Angola has reached this far at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament because of team consistency.

This is the first time the Southern African team has reached the AFCON quarterfinals since hosting the tournament in 2010.

Angola will square off against Nigeria in the quarterfinals as their unbeaten run in the competition continues.

A brace from Dala, who was named Man of the Match, helped Angola defeat Namibia 3 nil and advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in fourteen years. Dala contributed to the third goal as well.

Speaking to the media, Dala said the team worked hard and was ready to fight for a win.

“We had a good performance today and the involvement of all the players helped me in winning this Man of the Match award,”

The 27-year-old striker is eyeing the golden boot award at the 2023 AfCON tournament.

“Scoring of goals here is making me happy and I would love to continue in scoring goals in this tournament and getting victories as well,” said Dala.

The Palancas Negras will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Quarter finals in their quest to win their first AfCON title. Nigeria secured the last 16 qualification via a 2-nil victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
