Zambia Under-20 National Team coach Boyd Mulwanda has picked positives from his team’s 0-0 draw against hosts Egypt at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The Junior Chipolopolo failed to record a win in their first two matches, drawing twice without a goal.

Zambia is fourth with two points in Group A, while Egypt are second with four points from three matches.

“It wasn’t an easy game for us going to Egypt at home. They had all the support from their home fans, and that made it difficult for us. We were more tactical, and they wanted to recover from the game that they played. That made it difficult for us to get a positive result out of it,” Mulwanda said.

He adds that, looking at the point differences in the group, a draw was a fair result for his team.

Mulwanda also noted that there was an improvement in the team’s performance.

“The way it is in the group for us, it is a plus. The way the boys have played today, there’s an improvement from the first game that we played against Sierra Leone,” he stated.

“Egypt Made It Difficult For Us” – Mulwanda.

“We knew that it wasn’t going to be easy looking at the way the game turned out. Egypt were coming into this game from a loss, so that made it very difficult for us because they wanted to make amends for that game that they lost, and they pushed us in the first 25 minutes.

“They were on us, but we contained them, and we knew that in the second half, I think their fitness levels are not that much. In the second half, they tried to break, and they don’t keep the ball too much, and that’s what we worked on.”

Zambia’s next match will be on Tuesday against Tanzania at 17:00.
