Nkana’s ABSA Cup hero, Patrick Chooma, has attributed his penalty-saving heroics to hard work and divine intervention.
Chooma has played a crucial role in Nkana’s progress to the semi-finals of the ABSA Cup, as his penalty saves helped the club in the Round of 16 and the quarter-finals.
The former Under-23 shot-stopper caught the eye of Nkana fans in the Round of 16 against Roan United when he saved two penalties, before repeating the same feat against Kansanshi Dynamos in the quarterfinals.
He has told BolaNews exclusively that his performances have been down to hard work.
“My performances, I would thank the almighty [God] because without him I cannot do anything. And I think the boys [the team] have been fighting hard; it is just the morale and confidence coming from the team and the goalkeeper coach,” Chooma said.
Chooma anticipates a tough semi-final against record ABSA Cup holders Zesco United.
“We have to push hard. We are playing Zesco they are a big team but Nkana also is a big team so we expect the game to be tough,” he said
