Kabwe Warriors defender Killian Kanguluma says playing in the Absa Cup final was a good experience, despite the painful loss to Red Arrows.
Warriors lost 2-1 to Arrows in the final on Sunday at the National Heroes Stadium.
The Numba Mumamba-coached team’s hopes of winning their first Absa Cup title were dashed just 23 seconds into the game when Ricky Banda scored the competition’s fastest goal to put the Airmen ahead.
Arrow’s victory was sealed three minutes into the second half by Alasane Diarra. Godfrey Binga scored Warrior’s consolation in the 52nd minute.
Kanguluma, who played in three matches during the tournament, was a sight to behold in the final despite being on the losing side. He was named player of the match.
“It’s the nature of the game; we lose some, we win some,” the 24-year-old defender told BolaNews. “We shall continue working hard and we promise to do better next time.”
He continued: “It was the first time playing in the Absa Cup final. It was a good feeling playing the final despite the loss. We give thanks to God in all things.”
The Warriors began this year’s ABSA Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over the Lumwana Radiants. They went on to thrash Indeni FC 5-0 before defeating FC Muza 2-1 in the semi-final.
Kanguluma has played 30 games this season for the magnificent People’s team, which is currently sixth in the Super League standings with 42 points.
The Kabwe-based team has won eleven games, drawn nine, and lost ten this season. On Wednesday, they will face Red Arrows again at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium in the Super League.
A draw or win for the Arrows would secure the league title and complete the double.
