Kabwe Warriors Captain Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba believes the team has gained enough experience to help them win this year’s ABSA Cup title.
The Kabwe-based side will face the winners of the match between provincial teams Makeni All Stars and Muchinga Police Blue Eagles in the 2025 ABSA Cup.
They secured their ABSA Cup qualification after an impressive performance in the first half of the season, which saw them finish in the top four of the league standings.
Reacting to the draw, which was conducted on Wednesday at ABSA house, Mwachiaba stated that the team is back to win the title this time around.
“We almost won it last season, we came very close. However, this season we are back and we promise that we will go all the way this time,” he said.
ABSA Bank has increased their sponsorship package for this year’s tournament from K5.5 million to K6.5 million. The winners will pocket K1 million kwacha, while the runners-up will receive K400,000.
The tournament will begin with a preliminary round on March 15-16, followed by the round of 16 on April 5-6, before moving into the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, in Premier League action, Kabwe Warriors will face FC Muza on Saturday.
