FC Muza moved one step closer to winning their first trophy in club history when they defeated Trident FC 0-1 in the ABSA Cup semifinal on Sunday, but their coach Lameck Banda was not impressed.
Whiteson Songwe’s own goal in the second half was enough to ensure the Mazabuka-based side’s historic qualification for the ABSA Cup final where they will face Forest Rangers.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with BolaNews after the game, Banda expressed disappointment with the performance of his side, but he was, however, quick to mention that what mattered was qualifying for the final.
“It’s still work in progress, because there a lot of areas we need to improve on,” he revealed to BolaNews. “Yes we have won, but we were not ourselves, we couldn’t play the way we could have wanted…. But the most important thing was a win.”
He added, “If we had played excellent football and lost, it could amount to nothing. So we didn’t play our usual game but we won that’s the most important thing.” he explained
Banda eyeing the double with FC MUZA
The FC Muza coach predicts a tough final against Forest Rangers but remains confident that his team will win.
“We keep on working hard, we keep on pushing and believing at the same time. It will be an exciting match, because Forest Rangers are playing good football….. They managed to upset power Dynamos, and obviously they will be looking forward to winning the title as well. It will be exciting to watch,” he said.
Banda stated that the team’s focus will now shift to the league, with the goal of finishing in a respectable position or even, winning it for the first time.
“Yes, it’s possible we can win the league, looking at the rate we are going. We just need to keep on believing and working hard, putting in our very best,” Banda said.
