BolaBet and Matero Magic Basketball team have signed a one-year deal that will see the betting giant sponsor the club’s operations, including their kit.
The partnership was launched on Wednesday at the Prime Venue in Lusaka and was attended by Sports Council of Zambia chairman Sobwa Musunsa, along with representatives from the Midlands Basketball Association and BolaBet.
Speaking during the event, BolaBet Group Marketing Specialist Maloly Lukhele said, “For BolaBet, we love to be involved with the development of teams. We do need a team from Zambia to be part of the BAL (Basketball Africa League) for 2026 and 2027. So we are hoping that Matero magic is going to qualify.”
She added that the company is also focused “on the development, and that’s why part of our program is we are also building some basketball courts that are going to enhance the experience of young players that are coming up, who might pay for Matero magic one day.”
BolaBet Commits to Long-Term Basketball Infrastructure Development – Ngulube
And BolaBet Group Chief Revenue Officer Sanka Ngulube emphasized that the company is committed to improving basketball infrastructure in Zambia.
“We’re not looking for a logo on a jersey for a season. We want BolaBet to become a genuine part of basketball culture in this country, present in the moments that matter and trusted by the communities we serve. That kind of presence takes time, and we are willing to invest that time. The second is investing in the sport itself.
“Basketball cannot grow commercially if it hasn’t grown structurally; that means better courts, better facilities, and more pathways for young players to develop their talent. So beyond the sponsorship, we’re committing infrastructure, community, basketball courts and development programs that put resources where they’re most needed.”
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Matero Magic, club secretary Malamba Chanda thanked BolaBet and described the partnership as a major milestone.
“Today marks a significant milestone for the club, as this partnership with Bola Bit is not just a corporate agreement, but it is a shared vision for the growth and excellence and the impact that we wish to make on the Zambian basketball scene,” Malamba said.
BolaBet has continued supporting sports across the country, having previously backed the 2025–26 Nomads Golf Tournament, sponsored Zambian Super League clubs including City of Lusaka, Mufulira Wanderers, Kansanshi Dynamos, and Kabwe Warriors, as well as the Bola Yamu Hood grassroots football tournament, which attracted teams from underprivileged communities in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.
